TimeWednesday, June 27th2:45pm - 3:45pm
DescriptionThe BoF aims at introducing the new SX-Aurora Tsubasa vector architecture as a power efficient alternative to standard processor architectures. It is integrated into standard x86_64 servers as a PCIe card that can be used both, as a standalone vector computer with Linux operating system offloaded to the host system, and as accelerator card, featuring 1.2TB/s memory bandwidth for 8 vector cores. The presentations will give an overview on the architecture, similarities and differences to current SIMD approaches, native and heterogeneous programming models, the state of compilers and tools. We expect attendees to express their expectations and needs regarding the SX-Aurora programming and usage as well as present and discuss open source projects targeted at the vector engine. The novel vector platform brings many opportunities for research in various areas and the BoF is an opportunity for connecting researchers and developers from various domains.
