DescriptionWe describe recent developments in task-based algorithms for the solution of dense linear systems and the solution of both symmetric and unsymmetric dense eigenproblems. By using directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) we are able to avoid synchronization and obtain high levels of parallelism. Our algorithms also keep communication to a minimum, sometimes achieving a provably theoretical minimum. We will also discuss work on sparse direct methods and iterative methods for systems of linear equations.
