DescriptionDue to the increasing complexity and the advancing electrification in vehicle development numerical simulation of watermanagement is gaining importance. Vehicles are exposed to water in multiple ways e. g. through rain fall, wet roads or washing plants. To ensure the operability of vehicles in various environments, numerical simulation can be used. Especially the analysis of water paths in an early development phase can be done exclusively by numerical simulation due to the lack of hardware prototypes.

To compute real-life watermanagement-scenarios and other applications like external aerodynamic in a reasonable time huge hardware resources are required. To meet this requirement, the Porsche AG uses the resources of the High-Performance Computing Center – HLRS in Stuttgart. Finally, some advantages and disadvantages of using external cluster systems are discussed.
