Flight Gate Assignment with a Quantum Annealer

DescriptionWe report on our efforts to solve a problem from airport planning with a D-Wave quantum annealer. The flight gate assignment is related to the quadratic assignment problem that is known to be a very hard combinatorial optimization problem. We present a detailed analysis of the problem and compare quantum annealing solutions to classical approaches.
