DescriptionThis talk will focus on recent efforts on porting and redesigning the climate models (CAM-SE, etc) onto the Sunway TaihuLight Supercomputers. We refactored and optimized the complete climate code using OpenACC directives at the first stage. A more aggressive and finer-grained redesign is then applied, to achieve further performance boost. Peta-scale performance and ultra-high resolution are obtained, and enable us to perform well simulation of the complete lifecycle of hurricane Katrina, with close-to-observation simulation results for both track and intensity.
