DescriptionCognitive computing applications (including Deep Learning applications) increasingly often face the challenge of being limited by system capabilities to provide fast and fine-grained access to large-scale data sets. Storage devices based on non-volatile memory technologies do provide the necessary performance characteristics, but their integration remains a challenge. In this talk we discuss hardware integration options focussing on architectures based on POWER. Furthermore, we explore options for I/O middleware to access this memory and to exploit its hardware performance capabilities.
