Dr. Daniel Laney leads the Workflow Project at LLNL. As Workflow project leader, he coordinates across visualization, meshing, and uncertainty quantification teams and leads an Exascale Computing project building a new infrastructure for scientific workflows for LLNL scientists and engineers.
Daniel joined LLNL in 1996 as a graduate student at the Department of Applied Science at U.C. Davis. His research focused on data compression and scientific visualization. Upon earning his Ph.D. in 2001, he joined the Center for Applied Scientific Computing as a staff research scientist where he explored wavelet representations of scientific data and collaborated on scalable visualization and analysis research. During his time as a researcher, his work spanned data compression, synthetic diagnostic simulations, scalable data analysis, and scientific visualization.
