Erich has started his career in high performance computing as theoretical physicist studying lattice field theories on various supercomputers. After his PhD at the John von Neumann Institute for Computing and RWTH Aachen he optimized vector applications, worked on bringing NUMA to the Linux kernel, developed parallel file systems and distributed system software. Currently he heads a research and development group at NEC HPC Europe and focusses again on various aspects of software for vector computers built with the SX-Aurora TSUBASA.
