SUMMARY:(PP17) Efficient Time Stepping in Partitioned Multi-Physics
DESCRIPTION:Project Poster\n\n(PP17) Efficient Time Stepping in Partitione
d Multi-Physics\n\nRüth\n\nThe ExaFSA project, part of the DFG priority pr
ogram SPPEXA, aims at efficient and scalable simulations of fluid-structur
e-acoustics (FSA) interaction problems. Parallel solvers and HPC algorithm
s are needed to solve this multi-scale multi-physics problem.\n\nAn import
ant building block is the coupling library preCICE that allows combining a
lready existing highly efficient expert solvers in a partitioned black-box
approach. However, FSA is a multi-physics multi-scale problem that leads
to an inhomogeneous setup: The solvers may use non-matching meshes and dis
cretization techniques to handle their respective problem in the most effi
cient way -- both in the spatial and temporal domain (multi-scale). This l
eads to non-optimal performance of the individual solvers and, thus, of th
e coupled simulation code.\n\npreCICE provides methods for a correct treat
ment of non-matching spatial meshes, but it currently lacks advanced techn
iques for the treatment of the temporal dimension. The implementation of e
fficient time stepping in the partitioned approach is the goal of the pres
ented research project. Different problems for time stepping in the contex
t of a partitioned approach, such as reduced order and stability of the sc
heme, are described and a candidate solution following the preCICE black-b
ox approach is presented.\n\nPasses: Conference Pass, Exhibition Pass, Exa
