SUMMARY:(PP07) ProPE – A joint Effort to Establish a unified Service Infra
structure for Performance Engineering in German HPC-Center
DESCRIPTION:Project Poster\n\n(PP07) ProPE – A joint Effort to Establish a
unified Service Infrastructure for Performance Engineering in German HPC
 -Center\n\nEitzinger, Wellein, Röhl, Müller, Schürhoff...\n\nThe process o
f establishing systematic Performance Engineering for Scientific\nComputin
g on HPC systems is still ongoing. In this poster we present the\n"ProPE"
project, which is being funded as part of the DFG call\n"Performance Engin
eering für wissenschaftliche Software." The ProPE project\naims at laying
the foundation for a blueprint of processes and infrastructures\ncreating
an integrated Performance Engineering strategy for academic HPC\ncenters i
n Germany. With the Gauss-Allianz there is already an initiative to\ninteg
rate and organize the Tier-2/3 HPC landscape in Germany. Furthermore\nthe
re are multiple local efforts such as, e.g., bwHPC, KONWIHR, HKHLR and HLR
N.\nOur contribution is to integrate with and build on existing efforts an
d further\ndrive the final goal of an hierarchical and yet integrated Germ
an HPC\ninfrastructure with an emphasis on Performance Engineering. This c
omprises\na structured Performance Engineering process focusing on perform
ance-limiting\nmotifs (called patterns), a web-based information hub creat
ed under the\nGauss-Allianz umbrella, an aligned nationwide teaching curri
culum,\na distributed PE support infrastructure leveraging the unified HPC
competence\nin Germany and automatic application performance monitoring o
n HPC Cluster\nsystems. We updated the content from last years project pos
ter to reflect\nthe contributions of the past year.\n\nThe ProPE project i
s jointly conducted by the Erlangen Regional Computing\nCenter (RRZE), the
IT Center of RWTH Aachen University, and the Centre for\ninformation Serv
ices and High Performance Computing (ZIH) in Dresden.\n\nPasses: Conferenc
e Pass, Exhibition Pass, HPC Centre Planning and Operations, HPC workflows
, Performance Analysis and Optimization, Performance Tools, Scientific Sof
tware Development\n\nTag: Conference Pass, Exhibition Pass, HPC Centre Pla
nning and Operations, HPC workflows, Performance Analysis and Optimization
